The decomposition of elements such as U and Th, present in Zircon, causes the destruction of the crystalline structure of the surrounding phases around the mineral (presenting a deformed or irregular appearance), giving rise to metamictic halos. A super curious and vital specimen of any good collection. This specimen fluoresces yellow in short-wave UV light.
